Interior designer in Richmond

custom builds with layouts that mean something.

We design Richmond custom homes and renovations with respect for how specifically Richmond builds: generous kitchens plus a working wok kitchen, room for three generations, and layouts where circulation and orientation are decisions, not accidents.

What we know about designing in Richmond

Richmond custom builds often carry clear expectations: a show kitchen and a separate wok kitchen, a main-floor bedroom for parents or grandparents, and formal spaces that still see real use. We design for those programs natively rather than retrofitting them.

Many clients care about orientation and flow through the entry and stair. When those preferences matter to your family, we treat them as design inputs from day one, and the floor plan shows it.

Lot sizes and floor-area rules make every square metre count. In-house drawings mean the interior program and the allowable envelope get reconciled early, before anything is priced.

Richmond sits low on the Fraser delta, and most houses here are built without basements. Storage, mechanical space and guest rooms that would go downstairs elsewhere have to be found above grade, so we plan them into the main and upper floors from the first layout.

A wok kitchen is a working room and we draw it as one. Ventilation, durable and cleanable surfaces, and a direct route to the dining table come first. The main kitchen can then be designed for gathering, because the heavy cooking has its own place.

Renovations are the other half of our Richmond work. Houses and townhomes from the 1980s and 1990s get new kitchens, ensuites and opened main floors, and condo renovations near the city centre run on strata approvals and building schedules.

Multigenerational plans work when each generation has privacy as well as company. We look at where the bedrooms sit in relation to each other, whether a main-floor suite needs its own bathroom and sitting area, and how sound travels between floors.

The entry and the stair are often the most visible part of a Richmond custom home. We design them together, with the lighting, the flooring pattern and the railing drawn as one composition, because they are seen together from the front door.

We join Richmond projects alongside the builder, at the plan stage. Our construction documents give the builder exact specifications, we review shop drawings for millwork and stone, and we walk the site at the milestones that matter.

Published case studies near Richmond are in progress; here is selected work from across Metro Vancouver in the meantime.
